Today I had another day by myself so I headed out to the old Kilmainham Gaol which is full of Irish history so of course, as a history lover, I had an amazing time! I went on the tour which takes you through the jail and gives you a bunch of Irish history. The jail is over 200 years old and has held most of the leaders of all the Irish rebellions (there have been a lot). I added captions to the pictures below.
The front of the jail where they used to hang people.

Cell door from the oldest part of the jail.

The walls were covered with graffiti.

Newer part of the jail and where most the cells are. Quite a few films have actually been filmed here.

The cells are tiny and didn't always hold just one person.

The stone breakers yard where the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising Rebellion were executed by firing squad.
